Your nameserver is the name server of your host. If she gave you different ones then you can use yours.

Posted by freeflow on Jul 13, 07 3:43 pm · History

Yup. It means you HAVE to change the nameservers before you add it on.

Parked means that you are going to host the domain BUT you'r e not going to use it. So when people go to that domain they don't see any content or anything. But when they go to the subdomain they will.

Yea Add on. The difference between Add on and parked is with Add on you make the domain a site. With parked you are hossting it but its not a site its just sitting there . Its ok I don't need your cPanel its nt going to tell me anything since your not the head acocunt. I'll look around the web to double check you have to do it first. Either way I don't think it would hurt. I know for my host you HAD to change the nameservers then add on.

I'm not positive but I think so. I haven't done this in so long. Just double check . Read the cPanel faq or something to make sure you need to change the nameservers before adding it on. When I was hosted with dreamhost I HAD to do it for my hostees so I'd think so but just double check before you go through the process.

Yeah I know. How you been? How is your site going?

Posted by 1angel3 on Jul 13, 07 2:42 pm · History

Tell the girl thats hosting you to give you her nameservers. Then after you change I believe thats when you do the add on domain thing.

What site are you getting hosting from I'll try to find the servers for you. No worries its not hard your just going to change them :) The hard part is waiting for it to be done by the company.

To another host? You need to go into the domain log in account they give you and change the nameservers of the domain to that of the new hosts. Depending on where you bought it they might have a guide that shows you how to do it. It pretty simple, it just takes a few days sometimes. The new hosting site should have their nameservers somewhere on the site or should have emailed them to you o you can do the switch.

Hiya! I totally love your domain name. I wish I had a reason to get a subdomain, if I did I'd totally ask you to host me.

Posted by YourSuperior on Jul 13, 07 2:19 am · History

haha = ] woo, go track :D

did you want to know what they were?
a parked domain is like...when you buy a domain and you didn't do anything with your DNS servers yet..so the site you bough it from parks it for you.

like blogring.com someone bought that domain but they haven't configured their servers, so it just advertises stuff related to the name of the domain...atleast that's what i think.

and i looked up the definition of an add on domain

"An add-on domain is a domain that points to a folder within a website, but is not merely a redirect to it, as is a parked domain. For example, supposing a website's URL was www.maindomain.com, you could set up an add-on domain such as www.addondomain.com to point to www.maindomain.com/subdirector y/. Users visiting www.addondomain.com/file.html would actually be seeing www.maindomain.com/subdirector y/file.html, even though 'www.addondomain.com/file.htm l' would appear as the address in their browser.
